CAS 107-13-1 corresponds to Acrylonitrile, which is an important organic synthetic monomer that is colorless, volatile, slightly odorous, highly toxic, flammable, and suspected to be carcinogenic. Its molecular formula is C ∝ H ∝ N, mainly used in the production of polyacrylonitrile fibers (PAN), nitrile rubber, and engineering plastics.

Basic Information
-Chinese name: Acrylonitrile (alias: Ethylene Cyanide, 2-Acrylonitrile, Cyanoethylene)
-English name: Acrylonitrile (alias: Vinyl Cyanide, 2-propenenitrile)
-Molecular formula/weight: C ∝ H ∝ N/53.06
-Appearance and odor: colorless transparent liquid, sweet taste, slightly smelly
-EINECS number: 203-466-5

Key physical and chemical properties
-Melting point: -83 ℃; Boiling point: 77.3 ℃
-Density: Approximately 0.806 g/cm ³ (20/4 ℃)
-Flash point: -5 ℃ (extremely flammable)
-Solubility: Slightly soluble in water (about 7.45 g/100 mL), easily soluble in organic solvents such as acetone, ethanol, benzene, etc
-Stability: Pure products are prone to self aggregation (especially under hypoxia or light exposure) and require the addition of polymerization inhibitors for storage

main purpose
1. Polymer raw materials: manufacturing polyacrylonitrile (PAN), ABS resin, nitrile rubber (NBR)
2. Chemical synthesis: Production of acrylamide, adiponitrile, dyes, pharmaceutical intermediates, and synthetic resins
3. Other applications: Used as a grain fumigant (now strictly limited due to toxicity)

Safety and hazard warning
-Toxicity level: Highly toxic (inhalation, skin contact, or ingestion can all cause poisoning)
-Carcinogenicity: Identified as a possible carcinogen (R45)
-Risk of explosion: Vapors and air form explosive mixtures (explosion limit of approximately 3.05% -17.0%), keep away from sources of ignition
-Environmental hazard: Toxic to aquatic organisms, strictly prohibited from discharge
-Protection requirements: It is necessary to operate in a well ventilated area, wear protective equipment, and avoid contact with strong oxidants, alkalis, and acids
