CAS 111-41-1 corresponds to hydroxyethyl ethylenediamine (AEEA), which is a multifunctional alkyl alcohol amine containing primary, secondary, and hydroxyl groups. It is a colorless to pale yellow viscous liquid at room temperature, with an ammonia odor, strong alkalinity, and hygroscopicity. It is widely used as a curing agent and surfactant raw material for epoxy resins.

Basic Information
-Chinese name: Hydroxyethyl ethylenediamine (also known as curing agent 1, N – (2-aminoethyl) ethanolamine, aminoethyl ethanolamine)
-English name: 2- (2-Aminoethylamino) ethanol (AEEA)
-Molecular formula: C ₄ H ₁ ₂ N ₂ O
-Molecular weight: 104.15 g/mol
-Structural formula: H ₂ NCH ₂ CH ₂ NHCH ₂ CH ₂ OH
-EINECS number: 203-867-5

Main physical and chemical properties
-Appearance: Colorless or light yellow transparent viscous liquid, slightly ammonia odor, strong hygroscopicity
-Melting point: -28 ℃
-Boiling point: 238-240 ℃ (752 mmHg)
-Density: Approximately 1.03 g/cm ³ (25 ℃)
-Refractive index: n ² ⁰/D ≈ 1.485
-Flash point:>130 ℃ (closed cup approximately 125-144 ℃, slightly different data)
-Solubility: miscible with water and ethanol, slightly soluble in ether
-Acidity and alkalinity: The aqueous solution exhibits strong alkalinity (pH ≈ 11.8111g/L, 20 ℃), with pKa values of approximately 7.21 and 10.12

Core application areas
1. Epoxy resin curing agent: low toxicity room temperature curing agent, superior to ethylenediamine, used for adhesives, anti-corrosion coatings, cable casting, etc
2. Surfactant raw materials: key intermediates for synthesizing amphoteric imidazolines (such as shampoo, shower gel) and cationic corrosion inhibitors
3. Organic synthesis intermediates: used for the preparation of dyes, pesticides, chelating agents, lubricant additives, and pharmaceutical derivatives
4. Other uses: oilfield buffer, textile additive, metal cleaning corrosion inhibitor, etc

Safety and Storage
-Hazard: Belongs to Class 8 corrosive substances (UN 2735), causing serious skin burns and eye damage, and may cause skin allergies
-Toxicity data: Oral LD ₅₀ in rats is about 3000 mg/kg (some data records have significant differences, please refer to the specific MSDS for accuracy)
-Storage conditions: Sealed and stored in a cool, dry, and ventilated place (<30 ℃), avoiding contact with air, moisture absorption, and carbon dioxide. Keep away from oxidants and acids
-Protective measures: Wear corrosion-resistant gloves, goggles, and gas masks during operation to avoid inhaling vapors or skin contact

Preparation method
In industry, it is mainly produced by ring opening addition reaction of ethylenediamine and epoxyethane at controlled temperature (80-120 ℃), and the proportion needs to be controlled to reduce the production of multiple substitution by-products.
