Test Analysis methods of Mannitol powder CAS 69-65-8

Method name: Mannitol API—Determination of Mannitol—Redox Titration
Scope of application: This method uses titration to determine the content of mannitol in mannitol bulk drugs.
This method is suitable for mannitol bulk drugs.
Method principle: Dilute the test product with water and place an appropriate amount in an iodine bottle. After adding sodium periodate solution, add potassium iodide test solution and titrate with sodium thiosulfate titration solution. When near the end point, add starch indicator solution and continue titration. Until the blue color disappears, and the result of titration is corrected with a blank test, the content of mannitol is calculated according to the amount of titrant used.
Reagents: 1. Sodium periodate solution; 2. Potassium iodide; 3. Potassium iodide test solution; 4. Sodium thiosulfate titration solution (0.05mol/L); 5. Starch indicator solution; 6. Dilute sulfuric acid; 7. Benchmark weight Potassium Chromate
Sample preparation: 1. Take 90ml of sulfuric acid solution (1→20) from sodium periodate solution and 110ml of sodium periodate solution (2.3→1000) to make it; 2. Take potassium iodide 16.5g for potassium iodide test solution, add water to dissolve it into 100mL, the solution should be freshly prepared before use; 3. Sodium thiosulfate titrant (0.05mol/L) and sodium thiosulfate titrant (0.1mol/L) are diluted with freshly boiled cold water before use; 4 . Starch indicator solution: take 0.5g of soluble starch, add 5mL of water and stir evenly, slowly pour it into 100mL of boiling water, stir with the addition, continue to boil for 2 minutes, let it cool, and pour the supernatant to get it. Use fresh; 5. Dilute sulfuric acid to take 57 mL of sulfuric acid and dilute to 1000 mL with water.
