Description

Cobalt chloride is a red monoclinic crystal and is easily deliquescent. Melting point is 724℃, easily soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether and acetone. The molecular formula of anhydrous cobalt chloride compound is CoCl2, which contains 45.4% cobalt and 54.6% chlorine. The molecular formula of monohydrate is CoCl2·H2O, which contains 39.9% cobalt. The molecular formula of the hexahydrate is CoCl2·6H2O, which contains 24.8% cobalt.

Application

Cobalt chloride is mainly used to prepare cobalt oxide and metal cobalt, as an electronic material for alloy materials, and a small amount is used to produce barometers, hydrometers, wet and dry indicators in instrument manufacturing.
