The corresponding substance of CAS 50-71-5 is alloxan (also known as ureide), chemical formula C ₄ H ₂ N ₂ O ₄, which is an oxygen containing derivative biochemical reagent of pyrimidine used to selectively destroy pancreatic islet β cells and induce experimental diabetes models.

Core physical and chemical properties
-Chinese name: Tetraoxypyrimidine; English name: Alloxan; Alias: Urea
-Molecular formula/weight: C ₄ H ₂ N ₂ O ₄/142.07
-Appearance: White crystalline powder (prone to discoloration upon exposure to light/air or heating)
-Melting point: about 245 ℃ (decomposition); Solubility: Easily soluble in water and alcohols, often present in the form of hydrates in aqueous solutions
-Storage requirements: Sealed, dark, dry storage (sensitive to light and air)

Main purpose and mechanism
1. Construction of diabetes model: selectively ingest and destroy pancreatic β cells through intraperitoneal or intravenous injection to induce hyperglycemia, which is widely used in rodent diabetes research.
2. Biochemistry and organic synthesis: as proteasome inhibitors and organic synthesis intermediates.
3. Analysis and detection: Used as a color developer for metal ions such as cadmium, cobalt, etc.

Safety Warning
This substance has irritant and acute toxicity (H302/H312/H315/H319, etc.), and can cause redness and swelling when in contact with the skin. Protective equipment should be worn and the operation should be carried out under ventilated conditions. Unprotected contact is strictly prohibited.
