7681-65-4 is the CAS number for Cuprous iodide/Copper (I) iodide, with the chemical formula CuI and a molecular weight of 190.45. It is a white to light brown cubic crystal or powder that is insoluble in water and is commonly used as an organic synthesis catalyst, feed iodine source, and semiconductor material.

Basic Attributes
-Chinese name: cuprous iodide (alias: copper (I) iodide, copper monoiodide)
-English name: Cuprous iodide/Copper (I) iodide
-Molecular formula: CuI
-Molecular weight: 190.45
-EINECS number: 231-674-6
-Appearance: White to grayish white or light brown powder/cubic crystal, may gradually turn brownish yellow when exposed to light
-Density: 5.62 g/mL (25 ° C)
-Melting point: 605 ° C
-Boiling point: 1290 ° C (decomposition)
-Solubility: Almost insoluble in water and ethanol; Dissolve in concentrated acid, liquid ammonia, KI, KCN or Na ₂ S ₂ O ∝ solution
-Stability: Stable at room temperature and pressure, relatively stable to air, but photosensitive, needs to be stored in a sealed manner away from light
-Crystal structure: cubic sphalerite structure (Space Group F-43m)

main purpose
1. Organic synthesis catalyst: catalyzing Ullmann, Heck, Suzuki, Stille and other coupling reactions as well as halogenated hydrocarbon conversion.
2. Feed additives: As animal nutrition fortifiers (iodine sources), the FDA allows limited use.
3. Industrial materials: anode ray tube cover layer, thermal paper conductive layer, resin modifier.
4. Analytical reagents: Used in combination with mercuric iodide to detect trace amounts of mercury (turns red when exposed to mercury); Used for trace metal analysis.
5. Artificial rainfall: It was once used as an ice forming agent to artificially influence the weather.

Safety and Storage
-Toxicity: Harmful if swallowed, may cause sensitization if in long-term contact with the skin, avoid direct contact.
-Storage conditions: sealed, away from light, in a cool and dry place (recommended<30 ° C), away from strong oxidants and concentrated acids.
-Hazard: Non flammable, but decomposition may release toxic iodine vapor; The packaging grade is usually Class III.
