76578-14-8 is the CAS number for the herbicide Quizalofop ethyl, with the chemical name (RS) -2- [4- (6-chloro-2-quinoxaloxy) phenoxy] propionic acid ethyl ester. It is a selective post emergence herbicide of aryloxyphenoxy propionic acid esters and is mainly used for controlling weeds in broad-leaved crop fields.

Basic Information
-Chinese name: Quinazolin (alias: Caoke, Jingcao Ke * note: Jingcao Ke usually refers to the purified Quinazolin *)
-English name: Quizalofop ethyl
-Molecular formula: C ₁₉ H ₁₇ ClN ₂ O ₄
-Molecular weight: 372.80
-Structural features: A racemic mixture containing chiral carbon (R/S mixture), where R has herbicidal activity and S is essentially ineffective.

Physicochemical properties
-Appearance: Colorless crystal or white/grayish brown powder (raw material)
-Melting point: 91.7-92.1 ℃ (some records indicate that the raw material is 76-77 ℃, with differences due to purity or isomer ratios)
-Boiling point: approximately 220 ℃ (26.7 Pa)
-Solubility: Difficult to dissolve in water (~0.3-0.4 mg/L), easily soluble in organic solvents such as acetone and xylene
-Stability: Stable at room temperature, easily hydrolyzed under alkaline conditions; Burning produces toxic nitrogen oxides and chlorides.

Function and Application
-Mechanism: Inhibits acetyl CoA carboxylase (ACCase), blocks fatty acid synthesis, and leads to growth arrest and death of weeds.
-Applicable crops: broadleaf crops such as soybeans, rapeseed, cotton, peanuts, watermelons, potatoes, etc.
-Target of prevention and control: Annual and perennial gramineous weeds (such as barnyard grass, sagebrush, wild oats, horsetail, etc.).
-Usage: stem and leaf spray, effective 5 – 14 days after application; It is strictly prohibited to use it on grass crops (rice, wheat, corn, etc.), otherwise it may cause phytotoxicity.

Safety and Toxicity
-Toxicity classification: Low toxicity (oral LD ₅₀ in rats is approximately 1200-1670 mg/kg).
-Environmental risk: Highly toxic to aquatic organisms (carp LC ₅₀ 0.6 mg/L), it is necessary to prevent water pollution.
-Storage and transportation: UN3077 (solid substance harmful to the environment), stored in a dark and sealed manner, away from food and oxidants.

*Note: The commonly used high-efficiency product in the market is “Quinclotrimazole” (containing only the R isomer), which has an activity about twice that of Quinclotrimazole, but with a different CAS number (usually 100646-51-3)*
